ZIO ZIEGLER: NEW WORK

Matt Gonzalez and Tamsin Smith have co-written an essay first published in the catalogue for Zio Ziegler’s solo exhibition, Bernard Gwilliam and the Quantum Modernism, at Jules Maeght Gallery in San Francisco. The full essay and images are available here. Below is a poem written by Tamsin for Zio in 2015.

True Story
for Zio Ziegler

everything contained
within the painted detail
passages, portents, empires of color
care, time, loin and will
habits of being
form linked stories
each an island
wound with moody limbic limbs
complex of wordless cries
infinite mouth pitch of lamp or mars
black as burnt wood
shade of cave figures
press though
the idea of you
to what is you
the penumbra
eclipse of the self
perfect shadow boundary
alight so fringe
becomes focus
becomes its own
true story
